A Canadian Maclolm representative, Nov. 20, 2008
Just a quick note from a Canadian with a Malcolm family history. I joined the society in Stone Mountain at the 2008 October Highland games. It was a great experience. My Malcolm family history has been traced back ~ 300 years to Killearn, Scotland and an Andrew Malcolm. Is this of any interest to others?TDW(My first typed attempt at entering the Forum appeared to be seriously back dated, not sure what happened to it?)
Malcolm's in Afghanistan
I am back in Canada tonight last stop before Edmonton was Prestwick. I have just finished 7.5 months in Afghanistan with the Canadian Forces and was wondering how many Malcolm's are currently in harms way?
The Gathering
We've got our Passports to the Parade and all, and we'll get there just a day or two early, because we're going to stay long enough to take passage home (well, to NYC) on the QM2, which sails on the 15th of August. We're probably going to get a Scottish Freedom rail pass, which is good for 15 days. That actually leaves us a few days where we'll likely rent a car and go up to Crinan to have a look at the castle ....
Pvt. James Landreth Malcolm, CSA musician, died Winston-Salem, N.C. Nov. 8, 1895, age 79.
Pvt. Malcolm's wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Page Malcolm, died Forsyth County, N.C., 3-31-1892, age 69. Their graves may be at an old Guilford Co., N.C., Malcolm farm at which a census recorded them earlier; I believe it was in the Morehead Township district? His mother is believed to be a Landreth?

Neill Malcolm
My Great grandfather, Neill Malcolm, b.1827 emigrated to New Zealand from London in 1851. He was a barrister of Inner Temple London, his father, John, was also called to the bar there but does not appear to have practiced in England. John's record states he was "of Jamaica" Neill's mother was Sarah Wingfield. Neill married Emilie Monson Wilton in 1848. They had one daughter when they arrived in New Zealand and three more were born in Auckland.
